JobCraft is a Chrome extension that analyzes job listings against your resume to provide fit scores, tailored resumes, and cover letters. This privacy policy describes how we collect, handle, store, and share your personal data.
We collect only the data necessary to provide JobCraft's functionality. JobCraft uses Google OAuth for authentication. We do not collect, store, or have access to your password. When you sign in, Google securely verifies your identity and provides us only with your name and email address. No password is ever transmitted to or stored on our servers.
Below is a complete list of every data type we collect:
| Data Type | What We Collect | When Collected |
|---|---|---|
| Authentication data | Your name and email address from your Google account (no password is collected — authentication is handled entirely by Google OAuth) | When you sign in via Google OAuth |
| Resume document | The resume file you upload (DOCX or PDF text content) | When you upload your resume in the extension |
| Cover letter template | The cover letter file you upload (DOCX or PDF text content) | When you optionally upload a cover letter |
| Job listing text | The text content of the job description on the current page | Only when you click "Analyze This Page" |
| Profile preferences | Optional info: target seniority level, LinkedIn URL, website, job preferences | When you fill in your Profile |
| Analysis results | Fit scores, recommendations, tailored resume edits, and generated cover letters | After each analysis is completed |
| Tracked jobs | Job title, company name, source URL, status, and notes for jobs you save | When you click "Save" on a job listing |
Each data type we collect is used for a specific, limited purpose:
Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database on servers hosted by Render in the United States. All data is encrypted in transit using TLS/HTTPS. Database access is restricted to our application and is not publicly accessible.
The extension stores the following data locally in your browser using Chrome's built-in storage API (chrome.storage.local):
No cookies are used. No data is stored in localStorage or sessionStorage.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party. Your data is shared only with the following service providers, solely to deliver JobCraft's core functionality:
